wednesday.

sorry for late of post!
so yesterday me and my group mates met up for dicussion and to finished up our proposal and powerpoint slide. Mostly of the proposal and power point slide were done by nadiah, wherelse i was doing the storyboard and edmund doing the moodboard.

But still we did discussed of how it should be done for the proposal and power point slide, the scene and camera angle of the story board, and the mood board :)

We managed to finish the proposal and power slide by the night.
great work smarties! :D

sorry groupmates for being late! seriously hope i wont affect the mark :( !

so we had our proposal being bind together and get ready for presentation at 12.20pm at level 4 room, and i managed to reach at 12.24pm before the presentation started.

we was the fourth group to present. james's group was the first, second was Jovi's group, third was yuan jun's group, fifth was alina's group and lastly was rizal's group.

finally it was our turn to present, nadiah presented the reason of rejected ideas, edmund presented the design solution, concept and the mood board, while me presented the reason of why we choose the idea and what/how/when/where of the idea chosen. then nadiah presented the storyboard!

good job everyone! Nadiah explained the storyboard well, and wahidah commented our presentation was clear and straight to the point :)
Surprisedly, our idea's concept was almost the same with yuan jun's group, but the story line is different. We were quite stunned at first, but it was alright. We believe we can do it in more unique and interesting way, which able to show the fanstasy and the magical of the story :)

overall, everyone presentation was not bad, and the most interesting idea i think was alina's group. i think their concept was cute, interesting and has humorous sense! :)

great! we had finished our interim 1:) and now we have to prepare for the script and the fliming will start next monday!
looking forward to it, and continued to work hard smarties!

Hello Everyone!

Nadiah here!

I am so happy that my group's presentation for Interim One went well! Great job guys! :D

We presented our idea clearly and we even mananged for question and answer all within the 15 minutes!

Wahidah gave us few pointers that even though our story was very clear and straight to the point, we needed to show our message which was MOI was magical. As such, we are trying to figure out how to potray that and make it obvious in our story.

Shaun's group presented their idea and to my shock, their story was almost similar as ours however i believe that we all have our own uniqueness.

I especially liked Kaya's group the moodboard! It was very very nice and well presented!

Joyce's group had a very interesting idea and i really liked it very much!

Jovi's group was also had an interesting idea and i do like it too!

Rizal's group had a clear storyline which i liked very much too!

Overall i think every group did their own part well and each of their stories were very capturing! :D

Tomorrow we are doing our script and we are ready for shooting on monday! :D

Today we had our interim 1 presentation. Before that, we compiled everything we have and printed out the proposal. At 12.20pm, we went up to level 4 for presentation as level 3's system could not work.

We were the fourth group to present. The other groups explained their ideas quite clear and through the storyboards, I can almost visualise all the groups' videos in my mind and I think the final products will be quite interesting. Definitely, we hope our own video will be a nice one too! Haha.

Through the presentation, Nadiah talked about our previous ideas which we thought individually and explained why we did not use the ideas. She also explained the storyboard to let the viewers understand more clearly about our video. For me, I explained the final design solution we came up with and explained the concepts of the mood board and visual references. Yi Lin explained the various reasons for us deciding to use this idea.

The time-limit for each group is 15 minutes. Wahidah commented that we could manage the time well and was able to present the whole presentation within 15 minutes. She also said that our presentation is quite clear already and hope to see the message we try to convey in this video.

I think that we did a good job for this presentation! So well done, Smarties! Haha.
Have to thank both Nadiah and Yilin for these past few days staying up late working on the work with me. Thanks! Next week will be the production week, will be quite busy and tomorrow we going to meet up to do our script!

It's going to be tiring but we must hang on! All The Best Smarties and hope we can really do a good job in our video!

Hello here's Edmund!

Today we met up in Wahidah's classroom for consultation.
Each of us have started doing the work which we have divided. For me, I have found around 10 images for my moodboard. For Yilin, she started drawing the storyboard and it's kind of cute haha.=) For Nadiah haha, she started doing the call sheets and the planning all that. Really thank my two group members for what they have done!Haha.

Wahidah gave us some comments. For my moodboard, I should used pictures that portray the mood only instead of using pictures that will cause confusion among people guessing what it means.
Therefore, I have decided to cut down those confusing pictures and use pictures that people can feel the 'moods' immediately from the pictures. Wahidah told Nadiah to change the format of the call sheets but all the information are correct! Haha.... as for Yilin, she can continue to draw her storyboard and I think she is doing well so far.

So for now, we started discussing how we going to improve on certain areas and also plan out how we going to film for the video. Tomorrow we will meet up and do our proposal plus powerpoint tomorrow for thursday Interim 1.

It is a proper presentation as Wahidah even wrote down on the board saying that we will have 15 minutes to present. Wa like very serious, so must be serious too. Haha.

I hope we can do a good job in Interim 1! So good luck Smarties!

Hello! Nadiah here! :)

I am so sorry i didnt update yesterday! Sorry groupies! :)

Well, yesterday, my group consulted Wahidah and we realized that we are lacking in our work. As in we do not have the proper things. We also finally came up with a proper treatment for our work! Yay! :D

We each have to do the storyboard, moodboard and production planning.

Yilin will be doing the storyboard and we will then edit a few things.

Edmund will be doing the moodboard based on what we have told him.

Nadiah will be doing all of the production planning.

We will then review all of what we have done individually and the other members will edit what they feel is not right.

On Tuesday, we will consult Wahidah again and we will improve on our work based on the suggestions given by her.

Yes! We finally finalize our idea and it is a satisfying one!=)

At first, we were quite depressed as many of the groups have got nice ideas but we could not even think of one. However, we managed to think of one and it is something quite interesting.

We are pleased with the idea and started dividing the work among the three of us. We went to consult Wahidah about our idea. She was okay with it but gave us some advices of us to take note of. Thanks Wahidah! Anyway we have to start working our timeline all that. In fact, we already can visualise how our final project will be like, have to work on it!

Now I have to think of the storyboard, mood board etc for the project. So good luck Smarties, hang on and we can do it!=D

we went to school for another round of discussion, and we decided to change our idea, as our idea was difficult and is not as good as what other groups had done! we want a really good idea!
we were quite stress in the beginning as we really can't think of anything nice and workable idea, but slowly ideas started to pop out from our head, and we were satisfied with it! we also found out what is production planning, and did some parts of it.

after all the discussion, we consulted wahidah, i think she alright with it, as she commented our idea was fantasy enough :) she also gave us some suggestion and advice which can really help us to improve more! :)

now, we have to finish our production planning, and start working on script/treatment, story board and mood board! we also have to plan for our time line! :)

Today was basically the day where we finalized everything and we also knew what production planning was all about. We told Wahidah about our final ideas and she gave us questions to fonder about and we then came up with answers for those. We are halfway there already! On monday we will have consultation from 12.50!

We are left to do with script, storyboarding and mood board. As for prodcution planning, we are left with call sheets. Timeline is done for now! :D

Hello Everybody! :) It is all of us! :)

Today started out as a depressing and demoralizing day because we looked at each other and we didnt know what idea to come up with for our final work. However, the gloomy mood turned happy when hope arise!

Yilin came up with a brilliant idea which we finally decided upon! Edmund also had a few ideas and Nadiah also had an idea however we were very bent on taking Yilin's idea! :D

So happy that we finally have a good idea! YAY! :D

Then, it was our turn for consultation with Wahidah. We initally wanted to present only Yilin's idea. However, we were kiasu and we wanted to know if our other inital ideas would work. Thus, we asked Wahidah!

Wahidah then gave us a few pointers and she told us all 3 of our ideas were feasible and we could work out which one would the target audience prefer the most.

So, we have decided to do a short sypnosis of all 3 ideas and then we will then create a survey whereby we will ask our TARGET AUDIENCE which of the 3 ideas they would prefer for our final work.

Each of us have now been given a task and that is we will each write a short sypnosis of each of the 3 ideas.

The 3 ideas are a combination of all 3 of our individual ideas.

By tomorrow afternoon, we will have all of our sypnosis up and we will then create the survey. :)

hello yilin here :)

today, me and my group mates met up for discussion, but we discussed for awhile as three of us got something on.

basically, we discussed how we can combine our ideas, and the three ideas we used were, TV concept from Edmund, clay-mation concept from Nadiah, and archery concept from me. so we discussed how we can combine this together and make a video that are really very entertaining and yet useful to the target audience!
so now we had already had some ideas of how we can combining, we also find some research of how the idea can work well. i found it quite interesting though. But due to the time limit, the rest of discussion will be continue tomorrow!

so let's continue to work hard for tomorrow and so on! :)
hope tomorrow when we meet, we can get our idea more detail and have a rough idea of how the whole video can be done!

Today the rest of the classmates had their presentation. I had mine ytd and today was nadiah's turn. She did a good job, quite clear!=) Most of my classmates have interesting ideas. When they presented on their ideas, I can visualized the images in my mind.

After the presentation, Wahidah asked us to discuss in groups but brainstorming all our ideas together. For me, Nadiah & Yilin, each of us got two design solutions. We decided to combine each of our ideas into one BIG IDEA. Haha... I believe it will be pretty interesting.

Tomorrow, the three of us will be meeting up to discuss our work tasks and also to find ways to combine our ideas into a good idea. I really hope the final product will be something for us to be happy with.=)

Hello everyone! Nadiah here! :D

Today was the day we passed up our individuals proposal as well as some of us were picked to present our ideas today using a powerpoint.

Edmund was granted his wish, he was chosen to present today! I think he did a very good job explaining everything very thooroughly! His ideas were very interesting too! Good Job Edmund! :D

Tomorrow will be my turn as well as Yilin! Good luck Yilin! :D

The rest of my classmates who presented today did a pretty good job too! I was very impressed with the cool and amazing ideas each individual had for their work. Wahidah also pointed out the points that were missing as it serves as a learning point for me to improve my work.

Although we had passed up our proposal already, we are given another chance to touch up our work again after being told what needs to be added if we did not have it in. Thank you wahidah! :D

I feel that my research has some problems in it and i need to resolve all of it by tonight. Apart from that, everyone else also seems busy with their touching up of their proposal.

I think as a group, we basically have a rough idea of what we want to do, just that we need to know how to solve the problems related to it.

We were also given back our third age proposal today and we reviewed it together as a group and we knew where our faults were. As such, we have taken note of it and we can re edit our indivual proposal if we had the same mistakes as the 3rd age council proposal.

I am very nervous and scared for tomorrow's presentation. Hope i will make it! :D

hello, again today three of us will be updating individually, and im yilin.

Today, we had presentation for design solution of the third age council, before that all of us met up at 12noon for the final discussion.
12.20pm, our group was the first to start our presentation.
I'm the first to talk to first few slides, and was pretty nervous, nadiah was next and then Edmund.
i felt that i didn't presented it well due to my poor pronunciation, but nadiah and edmund presented loud and clear. :)
i will try and improve myself and not letting the group down ! :]

total thirty-two slides and overall we managed to present it quite well. although there is a mistake on the interview of the elderly. but at least we learn from our mistake, and we believe we won't make the same mistake again!

good job everyone! and we will continue to do our best for the project one :)

Hihi! Here's Edmund!

Today we finally presented our proposal of the two design solutions for the third age council to Wahidah in class. We had been preparing the powerpoint for the past few days so today is actually the day to present what we have. We were the first group to present!

Our two design solutions are Cooking Competition and Talent Competition. Oh ya, Yilin drew really nice pictures for the powerpoint slides. Thanks Yilin!

She was the first to present and she explained the design problem to Wahidah and also showed the results of our interviews. Next, Nadiah showed the charts of the survey results we have gotten and she explained the design solution on 'Talent Competition'. For me, I explained the other design solution which is on 'Cooking Competition'.

After the presentation, Wahidah gave comments that we should not only work out ideas based on the elderly and young adults we have interviewed. We can also try to come out with our own ideas which we think is workable for them too. However, Waidah still got say our presentation quite comprehensive. Haha, I must really thank my two group members Nadiah and Yilin!

I hope we can produce a good final assignment!=)
Oh speaking of that, I have to go do my research all that for monday's presentation!
It's an individual work on two design solutions of your own that you considering for your final assignment. Kk, better get to work!

Hello nadiah here!

I am so proud of my group members! I think we did an awesome job for presentation! hi5! :D
I felt that our group presentation went really well! I explained the survey results as well as the talent competition part while yilin explained the design problem and some of the talent competition parts. Edmund started off by introducing all of us and he explained about the cooking competition!

Yilin, you did really nice and cute drawings! Thanks for the drawings! Good job with your presentation too! :D you did well dont worry! :D

Edmund, you did a good job presenting too! and hope you had fun with your driving lesson! :D

I am so happy that our group worked well though we forgot to mention the ages of the people we interviewed in the powerpoint, we had that in the proposal!

Hi everyone! It is all of us! :D

Today we all rushed to our classroom from the printshop as if there was some race but there wasn't any. We were all rushing to hand up our proposal to Wahidah. We were nervous as the moment we stepped into class we thought there would be the powerpoint presentation however we were told to go to the lecture theatre instead.

As we headed to the lecture theatre, we were given the new assignment brief. Basically the only thing that has changed is that we all need to do a video for our final work. Apart from that everything else remains the same.

Following the new assignment brief, we were allowed to watch the previous batch project 1. We are really impressed by their high standards and hope that we can do as good as them. :) We also were told what went wrong with some of their works and how we should not repeat it.

Since there was no time for presentation, our presentation will be pushed till tomorrow. As a result, we have more time to prepare! :)

Earlier in the morning, we met as a group at 1130am to practice and add final touches to our powerpoint and as such we are all ready for tomorrows presentation.

Our individual homework for today is our individual final assignment part as well as prepare for tomorrow's presentation. :)

hello, yilin here.

today we did not have class, but i met up with my group mate, nadiah and edmund for discussion.
suppose to meet them at 11pm, but i was late by one hour.
sorry :(

so when i reached MAC lab, they already started doing the proposal. i joined in and help them with it.
we gave each other information and ideas, we suggest different ideas and take the best one, and we correct each other mistake and compliment each other's good points and ideas.
i believed all of us are satisfied in whatever suggestion we had made :)
overall of the proposal, we did it quite smoothly. I believed everything was on the right track.
we actually had some fun during the discussion, as my group mates are quite humorous!

then, we managed to finish our proposal by the time we estimated! :)

all of us went to have a lunch break, and we're back to start on our power point slide. Each of us were assigned some power point slide to do first, so that we are able to finish everything in shorter time. Some problems happened on my computer when I'm done, but thanks nadiah for helping me and solved the problems :) :)

After we had finished our parts in our power point slides, we then sat together again, and combined our slides together.
we discussed the arrangement of the slides, which slides can be taken away and which are important.
Then we design our slides nicer by edit the fonts, colour and style!
Finally after everything, we given some slides which we have to present tomorrow.

so i will be doing some drawing for the slide show, edmund and nadiah will be doing some notes for the presentation tomorrow.

i believed tomorrow will be a successful presentation! :)

Today our lecturer, Wahidah let us watch a video on Nike Advertisement at LT25. The video actually explained the concept of the purpose of introducing Nike.

In the beginning, I was quite unsure what is the purpose of watching this video. After the video, Wahidah started to explain our MOI P1 final assignment. The previous video we have watched is actually an example of what we going to do for our final assignment. For the final assignment, we supposed to do a visual presentation on our journeys in MOI throughout the first year.

Wahidah showed us some of our seniors' works and I must say that all their works are pretty impressive. They managed to used techniques and skills they learnt from this course to present/ explain their journey for the first year. After viewing their works, we went back to class for consultation.

Wahidah told us that the presentation we going to have on monday will be to explain our design concepts for MOI P1. We supposed to come up with two design solutions individually and present on monday. Next, we will be working as a group and choose two design solutions and start working on it. After clear explanation from Wahidah, I finally understood what the whole work is all about.

For the Third Age assignment, we have came out with two design solutios. Tomorrow we will be working on our proposal and powerpoint slides.

Therefore it will be a hectic day tomorrow for me, nadiah and yilin but we can do it!:)

Hello Everyone! Nadiah here :)

Firstly, today is a very productive day because my group members and me have finally finished our research and we are very proud of each other's work! Feel so happy! Everyone did their part and as a result, we have came up with what we think is a very good research.

Today in class, Wahidah taught us about writing a proposal. In groups, we discussed what was needed in a proposal following which Wahidah explained to us the different terms and ideas which we came up with related to what we thought was needed in a proposal. Following that, Wahidah gave us a note on what a project proposal should contain and how it can help us.

After clearing our doubts about the project proposal, we then got into our groups and had our discussion about our third age council exercise. My group consulted Wahidah to show all of the researches we have done and we asked her if we were on the right track. After the advises that Wahidah gave us, we have cleared our doubts.

Finally, we have already came up with 3 ideas to present however we will be choosing the 2 most feasible idea out of the three.

Our individual homework for today is to think about how our 3 ideas are better than what is already being offered and how it can be improvised. Tomorrow, we will choose the 2 ideas and then we will work on the proposal.

Hihi, it's me, Edmund again!=)

Today, we came back to school for consultation on our MOI proj 1.

Before that, we did some researches on the project already. Nadiah interviewed the elderly people under her block. Yilin asked teenagers around our age about their interaction with the elderly people. For me, I asked adults around my parents' age whether will they help the elderly people.

We told Wahidah about our design problems and the purpose of doing the two programmes (design solutions). Wahidah told us to interview more people as too little people may turned out to be a 'bias' source. Other than that, we need to ask in depth which means we must find out the reasons why the interviewees say 'yes' or 'no' to our questions.

We need to research more on the benefits for the elderly people being offered by other places such as RCs etc. For this weekend, I will find ask more adults and set questions that are relevant and useful. I will also think of my two programmes and compile everything together.

Hopefully by monday, we can compile all our research and choose our two design programmes.

The presentation will be on thursday and we will have enough time to work on it.

I believe we can produce a good work!=)So good luck to us! Haha...=D

Hello! Nadiah here! :)

Today, we only had consultation based on the research ideas we had so far. For now, i am glad that my group is on the right track. We had divided the work the day earlier to prepare for consultation today. Yilin had interviewed young teenagers around our age, she asked them questions such as if they were comfortable to interact with their senior citizens. Edmund had interviewed working adults and we found out that they care for the senior citizens more than the young generations cared for. I interviewed the senior citizens near my housing area and i found out that they only wanted to have time for communication, they didnt want to have any activities apart from a dinner together.

Wahidah told us that we should research on a bigger number so that the results wont be biased and we should think about what the third age council defines as old. We should also look into the Golden Age and Silver age. Another way to improve on our work is to know the background of the people we have interviewed to show a clearer unbiased result.

Overall, we are going to do more in depth research and by monday we will have our research done and then we will move on to plan for the programmes :)

sorry for the late posting.

so on friday, we went back to school for consultation only.

Before the consultation, three of us were given different research to do. i had to interview the young adults, basically teenagers around our ages. i had to asked them about interaction and activities with elderly. nadiah had to interview elderly, asking them what would they like to do. edmund had to interview adults, and found out their communcation and interaction between elderly.

during consultation, we told wahidah what was the design problems and based on the design problems how we going to think on idea to solve those problems.

we also told her the outcome of our interview, and we found out we need to ask more question to understand them more, and it easier for us to know what we have to do.

also, the numbers of people we interview are very less, and it led to bias result.

so what we had to do, is to found more people to ask, and asking them more questions to give us the ideas of what they're thinking.

that's all, hope tomorrow we will have enough information to start planning for the programmes!

Hello Everyone! :)

Today, we were taught by Wahidah a few things which we need to show in our research. For example, Wahidah taught us about Qualitative and Quantatitive. Qualitative refers to in depth interview and observation. While quantative refers to the amount of work. We were also taught on the different research methods and to check its reliabilities. The materials which we could use are newspapers, books and interviews.

Wahidah also gave us a website which showed Kids building a furniture and how they showed their research process which could be useful to us.

Following that, we got into our groups and we came up with questions for the design problem. We then came up with a list of what is needed in our research.

We then found out the main points which neeeded to be research on and we divided the research among the 3 of us.

Yilin will be researching on younger generation eg mainly teenagers while Edmund will be researching on working adults while Nadiah will be researching on older generations.

We will all be observing on what our main target groups usually do and how they try to communicate with each other. From there, we will be able to identity the problem that is hindering the two generations from communicating.

All three of us will also be researching on what the third age council, the society and the hospitals are doing currently to promote bonding between younger and older generations.

From there, we will be able to identity what needs to be done and we can pinpoint what is missing then we can come with programmes that can create bonding.

In conclusion, we have decided to research a bit and get ready for our consultation tomorrow.

hello i yilin.

Today MOI students, mostly year one and two had to gather at LT24. Victric Thng came to give us talk, and showed us almost all his short films.

firstly, his short films was played.
the films are Twogether, The mole, Closer Apart, Goodbye Firefly, Bliss, Moonly, Lamentation and Locust.

indeed, his films gave a uncomfortable feeling yet is something that you have to face it. the reality that everyone have to face sooner or later.
almost all his films are depressing, especially Bliss, Moonly and Locust.

it gave me a feeling of lonely, someone that you love had actually left you, and a feeling of missing someone terribly.
these explained why it gave us a uncomfortable feeling, but it's a cycle of birth, old, ill and death.
we have to face it, so my personal feeling was maybe victric thng trying to express these?

i found out that his film had his own style of way filming it, mostly of his films was just letting images and images passing the time, and a speech of someone expressing the feeling.

so after seeing through his films, he came out and told us more about his film and his personal thoughts of what he had go through.
it was really interesting to know more about him, and how his films were made and where he got his aspirations.

but mostly his films were not really by aspiration, yet it was something more on the spot.
example, he said that he just took a video camera and video and shoot around. surprisingly to found out that it turned out to be very beautiful, which made him make a film out of it.

sometimes, when he don't intend to make a film, unintentional he would make a film.
but when sometime he intend to make a film, he failed to do so.

i felt it was interesting to know what behind the scene, or his thoughts behind the films.

many students had doubt and asked numbers of questions, he answered us patiently, and able to clear our doubts.
:)

beside all these, victric thng who graduate from TP, and it was a warmth feeling to see him recognising and asking how they do when he saw the lecturers and staffs.

overall i felt today was a worth to have met him and see through his films, and i believed this will inspire many of us who wanted to be future film-maker.

so after everything, our group, smarties! meet up together for a discussion on the council for third age, and we have to come out by two ideas of our own by tomorrow.

Hello everyone, I’m Edmund! :)

Today our lecturer Wahidah gave us an exercise to do. We need to do a presentation to introduce the meanings of design process, role of a designer and research process.

To me, it was like a practice as this is the first time I am working with Nadiah and Yilin as a group. So Wahidah gave us 45 minutes to do research and prepare for our presentation. During the time, Nadiah, Yilin & I went to the mac lab in our school to do research using internet.

We found a lot of information about the design process all that and kept on opening new tabs. Yilin jotted down certain important points for the presentation and Nadiah transfer all the research we have found to our powerpoint slides. I was the one who helped them to find all the websites and basically all three of us helped one another.

Finally we completed our slides but none of us have thumbdrive!!! Haha… lucky one of our classmates from the other group lent us his thumbdrive to store our work. Thanks James!

Soon, we started the presentations. Most of the groups managed to explain the design process and everything in detailed. Finally it’s our turn! We went up and started presenting what we have found. Wahidah stopped us in the middle and asked us to go back to the slides which we talked about the meaning of design process.

To our surprise, we did wrongly! Wahidah told us that we were actually talking about a designer’s process, instead of a design process. What we presented was actually how a designer should have in mind before starting a design and not how the design works in the process. The other groups managed to present it in the correct way.

We also found out that we looked at it in a different way that’s why we did not get the meaning correctly. Nevertheless, we will not give up just because of a mistake like this! (: I am glad that Wahidah pointed out our mistake as in future, we will be more careful when doing our work. Thanks Wahidah for your advice!

Even though this time round we made a mistake in our presentation, I believe that it will not affect us! Nadiah, Yilin and I will work even harder for the rest of our exercises and assignments and produce good work. I strongly believe that we can do it! :D

Hello,
Nadiah here. It is the first post! :)

Today, we drew lots and then i was lucky enough to be in the same group as Edmund and Yilin who are going to be my group members for MOI project 1! :)

I am very excited to work with them and am confident that we will work well as a group.

We have already planned the routine for updating this blog daily.

Tomorrow, we will begin doing our own part of the given task and then we will listen for updates and then get together as a team.
